The
Ancestral Hall
The Ancestral Hall, the place where the patriarchs
are enshrined, is located belowthe Ksitigarbha
Temple. It resembles those ˇ§Chi Tongsˇ¨ found in
villages. At the doorway, a couplet of the says
of Ven. Fat Ho was written by a celerated calligraphist
Mr. So sai-kit. It goes, ˇ§Abid by the regulations
stipulated by the ancestors; set a good example
for the people that comes after.ˇ¨ The Abbots who
where predecessors of the lineage are enshrined
in the hall, while the ancestors of believers
are placed with their names inscribed on a numerated
tablet and arranged in numerical order on both
sides of the wall for paying tribute by their
offspring. Being enshrined allows the deceased
to listen to the chanting day by day, perhaps
a more expeditious path to the Pure Land.
